Institutional discipline, operator's tempo.
Marcus Thompson pairs formal financial training with hands-on operating experience. A Chartered Financial Analyst with a B.S. in International Business and Economics and an MIT Sloan School of Management graduate with a focus on blockchain, he brings 15 years of business development, operations, and financing experience with Fortune 500 firms, private institutions, and high-net-worth individuals worldwide.
As Portfolio Manager at Emperor Capital Group Properties, a $4 billion real-estate asset manager, he provided the initial strategy for a $500 million commercial real-estate fund joint venture across key emerging-market cities and co-directed the build-out of a specialized international pension-fund and investment-banking team spanning Asia and the MENA region, presiding over portfolio acquisitions from conceptualization through financing. He then co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of Independent Power Group, a technology-driven oil & gas platform whose proprietary predictive-modeling application optimized throughput for small-scale refineries in the Jebel Ali, Al Hamriyah, and Fujairah zones — exiting on the company's sale to SBK Holdings.
He went on to found the Quantinium Project, where he serves as Chief Operations Officer, and is a member of the CFA Institute, contributing to its blockchain and crypto regulatory-compliance technology committee. At Standard, Marcus leads capital acquisition, strategic finance, and business development — the firm's investor relationships, financing strategy across the acquisition program, and the financial integration of acquired operators onto a single institutional-grade platform.
